An electronic instrument cluster is the collection of gauges (a cluster of gauges) that sits behind the steering wheel of a car and comes out as a single pod or module. The cluster is also known as a dashboard from back in the Model T days when it was really a board. Also called an Instrument Panel, or IP panel, especially in factory repair manuals. The electronic speedometer in the cluster gets its signal from the VSS, or Vehicle Speed Sensor. The speedometer may have a digital speed readout (digital dash) or analog one that shows the speed with a dial like a clock face. Most cars made after 1995 use an electronic instrument cluster. For many of our clusters we completely remanufacture them to better then new. If your cluster has a mechanical speedometer drive cable please visit our Mechanical Speedometer Repair page.
