GM Stepper Motor Repairs and Speedometer Recall

GM ( General Motors ) produced about 4 million vehicles form 2003 to 2007 with faulty instrument clusters in cars, trucks and SUVs. These instrument clusters had defective stepper motors that cause the speedometer intermittently to act sticky and hang up at certain speeds. In some cases the speedometer is dead. The stepper motors were also used in the other gauges. So the temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, voltage gauge or battery gauge and the fuel gauge may have similar sticky readings are just not work. The tachometer can also act weird or peg out.

Southern Electronics replaces ALL the old XC5.168 with the new Generation 5 Version X27.168 stepper motors. At the same time we replace all the lamps (up to 13!) that often fail and polish the lens to look almost new. We return your cluster back the same day so there is no need to reprogram the mileage. Also you are not getting back someone else's unit that may have a lot more hours on it. Beware of people advertising low price repairs that only replace one gauge. All of the gauges will fail eventually.

These clusters are pretty easy to remove, see our Removal Videos to see how.

There was a class action settlement, but never a true recall. See our site GM Speedometer Recall for more information.
